One Voice Agenda 21/02/2025

Date: 21st Jan 2025 @ 8:50am

Welcome back to One Voice!

Last week we talked about Respect and how we can show it to everyone in our school community. Many children got recognised for showing respect in the lunch hall. Well done for using good manners.

Christian Values

Can you give an example of have you shown respect this week?

News

You may have heard about the Planet Parade that is happening in our skies this month. This week is the time to look up to the skies as this week 6 planets will align in the sky and can be seen by your eye! Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn can be seen by your eye and Uranus and Neptune with a telescope!

Important dates this week:

Wednesday 23rd is National Reading Day - maybe you can make time to visit the library this week and enjoy a book. Reading has many benefits and can help your wellbeing. Thank you to Mrs O’Connor and the reading Ambassadors for looking after our library for us!

Discussion: Rights Respecting

Everyone listened so well in Ms Gallienne's assembly last week. It was quite tricky as we talked about politics, lots of children were very knowledgeable! This year we are focusing on why it is so important that children have a voice and how we can get our decision makers to listen and take children's opinions seriously (Article 12 and Article 13).

We had a discussion about these words, can you remember what they mean?

Government- A group of people who manage and make the big decisions in our country.

Prime Minister- The head of the Government.

Parliament- Parliament's job is to look closely at the Government's plans and to monitor the way they are running things.

MP- Member of Parliament

In your One Voice group, please discuss these questions:

1.Who is our Withington MP? Jeff Smith.

  1. What is the number one thing that you would like children to have more of a voice about in Government? (We can ask Jeff Smith to help us with this!)
  2. Is there anything that could be done to improve this in our school/ local area?

Please email Ms Gallienne with these ideas or put in the silver box outside the office today.

Share your thoughts with the group and remember to be a good listener whilst others are talking, you might hear something inspirational!

Positive Affirmation for today:

Practicing morning affirmations can help you start your day on the right track. It puts you in a good headspace for tackling the rest of the day. This kind of positive self-talk becomes easier with practice and when you remember them they will pop into your head when you need it most. Can you remember last weeks? (I am proud of myself)

I belong here.

Thank you and have a great week! 😊
