One Voice Agenda 19/11/2024
Date: 19th Nov 2024 @ 10:38am
Welcome to One Voice! Reflection question: In Collective Worship we talked about what a hero is. Can you think of a time you have been helped by someone who you would describe as a hero? Do you have a hero? (doesn’t have to be someone famous! Who do you admire an why?) Important dates this week: - Today is World Toilet Day!- raising awareness about the need for all human beings to have access to sanitation and hygiene, which right is this linked to? We can all be safe by making sure when we use the toilet we flush it and wash our hands with soap and water. This helps us to stop spreading germs - Tomorrow is Universal Children’s Day- UNICEF's global day of action for children, by children, marking the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The theme this year is Togetherness, what does this mean? - Thursday is world Television Day, did you know Scottish engineer John Baird gave the world's first demonstration of true television before 50 scientists in central London in 1927. What an impact TV has had on our lives! News: For the last two weeks, you should have been doing some football skills in your PE lessons. Have you enjoyed these? Did you learn any new skills? The Year 5/6 Hockey tournament has been delayed and will no longer take place this Friday. When we have a new date, we will let Year 5/6 know. Discussion- This is to be led by Rights Rangers please: 2024 is a big year for change. Almost half the world has been voting in elections taking place in over 60 countries, including in the UK. What is an election? While people under 18 usually can’t use their voices by voting in national elections, there are lots of other ways they can make their voices heard. Can you think of any examples? How do we do this in school? It’s a key moment to educate decision-makers of their duty to listen to children and uphold their rights. How could we do this? There is power in coming together to influence change – it shouldn’t be underestimated, and this year, we’re determined to show just how important children, their voices and their rights are, and that they must be listened to! We will officially start our campaign in Ms Gallienne's assembly on Thursday. Share your thoughts with the group and remember to be a good listener whilst others are talking, you might hear something inspirational! Positive Affirmation for today: Practicing morning affirmations can help you start your day on the right track. It puts you in a good headspace for tackling the rest of the day. This kind of positive self-talk becomes easier with practice and when you remember them they will pop into your head when you need it most. Can you remember last weeks? (my challenges make me grow) I can be a hero. Thank you and have a great week! 😊
