Christian Values- Respect

Why is respect such an important value?

How does if make you feel if someone respects you?

How can we show respect to others during the school day?

News

This week Spring begins and we are seeing lots of new plants and flowers in the playground. Thank you to the children who are letting them grow so that they can be enjoyed by everyone and create habitats for insects.

Important dates this week:

Today is Global Recycling Day, do you know what you recycle in school? Why is it important to recycle?

20th March is International happiness day, the theme is Sharing & Caring. This year’s theme reminds us that lasting happiness comes from caring for each other, feeling connected and being part of something bigger. Think and share with the group what makes you happy?

Discussion: Rights Respecting

Please let Rights Rangers share any information from meetings that they feel is important.

In assembly last week, we discussed the importance of children having the right to have their voice heard (Article 12) and how it is the duty bearers' responsibility to make sure that this happens.

Children were inspired by a short video we watched where we saw young changemakers that had made a real difference in the world by speaking up for children's rights, can you remember any of the stories? eg Greta Thunberg, Malala Yousafzai.

What is a global citizen? global citizenship is the idea that everyone, no matter where they live, is part of a worldwide community. We can be better global citizens by thinking of ways to minimize our carbon footprint and protect the environmental resources in our local environment. We need to encourage values of tolerance, compassion, and empathy for others, and build supportive relationships with people from other cultures and countries.

What could we do to help our wider environment as a school? Please discuss this, write down your ideas and give them to the Rights Rangers to pass on to Ms Gallienne.

Share your thoughts with the group and remember to be a good listener whilst others are talking, you might hear something inspirational!

Positive Affirmation for today:

Practicing morning affirmations can help you start your day on the right track. It puts you in a good headspace for tackling the rest of the day. This kind of positive self-talk becomes easier with practice and when you remember them they will pop into your head when you need it most. Can you remember last weeks? (I am proud of myself)

I am fair to everyone.

Thank you and have a great week! 😊
