European School Sport Day - Friday 27th September
Date: 17th Sep 2019 @ 9:40am
The 27th September is European School Sport Day (ESSD). This is a day that is celebrated round Europe in getting children active in school. The aim of this day is to get the children to be active for at least 120 minutes by running, playing games, dancing, skipping or any other physical activity during lessons too.
We are celebrating this day to encourage children to be active but also to promote health and wellbeing for lifelong learners and to connect with other European countries.
As we are a Rights Respecting School, this links to Article 24, “Every child has the right to…an education on health and well-being so that children can stay healthy.” It also links to Article 31, “Every child has the right to…relax and play.”
We would like it if on this day you could walk, skip or cycle to school rather than using the car and take some photos of your journey. You can then tweet this using the hashtag; #stpaulswithingtonactiveminutes
There will be lots of sport’s activities for the children to do on the day, including a daily dash with KS1 and EYFS, staff vs children sport’s activities plus KS2 children will be running, walking or skipping a mile; 16 laps of the pitch!
Children and staff will be able to wear sports clothes for the day, including football kits if they wish, along with trainers or pumps.
If you have any questions or as a parent or carer or you would like to get involved; please do not hesitate in contacting myself or your child’s teacher.
