Vacancy - Headteacher

Thank you for your interest in the role of Headteacher at St Paul’s CofE Primary school, Withington, Manchester. Due to the retirement of the current Headteacher the governing body is seeking to appoint a dynamic and considerate leader who will build on the success and excellent recent performance of the school while maintaining an inclusive, happy and caring environment.

St Paul’s CofE has been at the heart of the community in Withington, South Manchester since 1844, recently celebrating our 175-year birthday with events and programmes that included the school and wider community. The school continues to meet the needs of the pupils and their families through innovative and leading teaching approaches and a highly committed and professional teaching and support staff, all of whom embody the school’s ethos of caring about learning and learning about caring.

In a recent Sunday Times Parent Power Schools Guide, based on the 2018 results, St Paul’s ranked:

  • 147th out of 16,769 state funded primary schools in England: top 1%
  • 26th in the North West and
  • Joint 3rd in Manchester

Part of the success of the school lies in delivering the mission of St Paul’s to create an opportunity for every pupil to achieve their full potential in a safe, welcoming and vibrant learning environment. Further still, within the context of Christian values, to encourage and support all children in becoming confident, independent and caring. Significant other contributors to the school’s excellent academic performance are the Rights Respecting Silver award and the drive to Elklan communication friendly status as well as awards for sport. All of which show how necessary and important inclusivity and diversity is within this school’s context and success.

This is a tremendous opportunity for a new Head to grow themselves and their passion for learning in a fun, challenging and incredibly rewarding role. We feel that the school is in an excellent position for a new Headteacher to build from this strong foundation and lead St Paul’s into the future caring for the learning of all children.
